Description
Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (PB-005) influences the migration of neurons, arborization of dendrites, and formation of new synapses.
In vitro
Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate selectively increases the length of neurites containing the dendritic marker MAP-2 and increases neuronal excitability when directly applied to septal-preoptic neurons[1].
In vivo
Chronic administration of Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate produces a dose-dependent effect on performance. In male Sprague-Dawley rats, Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (5-20 mg/kg; s.c.) is significantly effective in improving latency to reach the platform[3].
